Philosophy

Personal. Concentrated. Invested.

At Elite 150 each team is coached by a college coach.

Camp coaches are recruiting various age groups consistent

with the recruiting timeline of their school   The player to

camper ratio will be kept smallto allow exposure to the

coach, and coach to theplayer.  We strive to give players the

opportunity to work several coaches. Stands and a hilltop

view of the fields provide forall of the games and skill sessions

to be easily viewed bycoaches - a great setting for players to showcase their lacrosse skills.  Benefit from coaches getting to know you personally. Personality + work ethic + coachability make a difference to coaches.  Face to face contact can help players gain opportunities at schools.  It can also help players identify coaches of interest.  Exposure to coaches’ style and methods - hands on, experience the drills they run with their programs at a high level.  This allows for coach creativity to shine and gives players a feel for how coaches teach and challenge their players.  Late summer is an opportunistic time to get on coaches’ recruiting lists for fall.  After going back to school in August, coaches will be looking to run with their Fall Recruiting Cycle.  Leaving Elite 150, players will be fresh in coaches' minds.

Yes, players at Elite 150 have the chance to get in the habit of being coached consistently by college coaches,  but it also improves their opportunities, by meeting coaches and developing connections.  From getting on a coach's radar screen to making a coach's short list, camp opens doors...Improves the chance of invitations to Official/Campus Visits and Junior/Soph Days |  Makes a strong impression on coaches come support time with Admissions and Ranking Lists | Personalizes the recruiting process.

Camp Opens Doors:

Elite 150 is a huge opportunity before schools starts to gain the exposure and "direct access" to coaches in the recruiting process. This is an important time to jump start, shift focus, or continue be mentally prepared and organized for the recruiting process. We strive to provide student athletes with the knowledge and guidance needed.

At camp, concentrated exposure to coaches helps develop working relationships between player and coach, facilitating:

  • invitations for campus visits post- camp (sometimes immediate day after/week after visits)

  • post camp mailings | more personalized communication from staff | specialized information on the school, academic interests

  • invitations to "junior & soph days"

  • exchange of contact information

  • invitations for fall official/campus visits

  • guidance and assistance setting up admissions' interviews, tours, meetings with academic personnel

  • being added to recruiting lists, mailing lists, "watch lists"

  • solidification of placement on coaches' ranking lists; momentum created by your "stock rising" | timely opportunity for coach to represent and present student-athlete to admissions heading into "Support Time" (ie., leadership, intangibles, skill set, potential, personality)

  • great timing for Early Decision candidates

  • because camp coaches are well- connected and professional, coaches who get to know  you can offer references to coaches at other schools of interest to you

Recruiting Process: Education

We pay close attention to giving student-athletes a complete recruiting picture.  Campers receive a Recruiting Notebook. Coaches and college admission officers will further educate rising juniors, seniors and sophs about the realities of the recruiting process (evening programs: Recruiting Seminar & Panel, Admissions Seminar.) In this intimate environment, student athletes will receive guidance about the language of coaches and how it all really works. They also have a great opportunity to get questions anwered:

  •  recruiting timelines

  • NCAA recruiting rules

  • the 'language of coaches'

  • different schools' approaches

  • what coaches are looking for/expect

  • myths & mysteries of the recruiting process

  • admissions' lingo

  • admissions process & timelines

  • early decision, early action, regular review

  • ACT/SAT

  • preparing for the application process/ interview

  • financial aid

  • highlights and game film

  • differences in D1, D2, D3, WDIA,

College Exposure:  Information Gathering -Visits

While many of our coaches will represent schools outside of Southern California, desintation San Diego provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience visiting college campuses. Whether narrowing a list, expanding a list or just keeping options open, visiting schools can help make the college process more "real," and provide a reality check. Numerous D1, D2, D3, WCLA clubs are  in close proximity to camp and offer a diversity of college enviroments and experiences, several within a 90 minute drive (option: enjoy the 'Surfliner' -affordable and scenic Amtrack line to L.A.)

When visiting schools, in general student athletes start to form opinions about

big/small, suburban/metropolitan,  majors, financial aid, facilities, look, feel, vibe, food, amenities...
